DVD – THE WORLD IS BALL – BALL JUNKIES
Opinions differ at the ball – not just those of people who own dogs, but also those of dogs. Enthusiasm, euphoria on the one hand, indifference or rejection on the other characterize the topic. Play is not only a necessity during youth development, but also an enrichment later in life.
Like any game, activities with balls have their good side, but also the tendency to cause problems if not taken care of. Versatile playing options make balls all-rounders, because everything from searching to rushing at high speeds is possible. Most games with balls are social games between humans and dogs. Communication between humans and dogs while playing corrects the image of humans as “ball throwing machines”. High speed and arousal levels, impulse control, frustration, ambiguous communication and entrenched behavior patterns quickly lead to certain types of dogs making chasing games with the ball their unsurpassed favorite pastime. Withdrawing this activity only appears to solve the problem because a fundamental need of the dog remains unsatisfied. Frustration is a consequence that can lead to various behavioral problems.
The video recording of the day's seminar shows the reasons why a dog develops into a so-called "ball junkie". If the causes are known, they can be prevented or changed so that behavior remains emotionally and physically healthy.
The aim is to make the dog's behavioral repertoire as varied as possible in connection with balls or other play objects without sacrificing anything.
